Residential fires and explosions in Spain
Overview
A series of residential fires and explosions have been reported across various locations in Spain.
In late September and early October, incidents occurred in the province of Cádiz, including a fire that destroyed a shoe repair and locksmith shop in Sanlúcar de Barrameda and a kitchen fire in Jerez de la Frontera that required forced ventilation to clear smoke.
Subsequent reports detailed further emergencies in other regions. These included a bedroom fire in Macisvenda that caused burns to a resident, an explosion in a boiler room in Camponaraya that injured a man, and a garage explosion in Santander that damaged vehicles and forced the evacuation of approximately 20 residents. Additionally, an eight-story building in O Barco was evacuated following reports of a suspected gas leak, though emergency measurements later returned negative results.
More recent incidents include an early morning fire in Nigrán where a vehicle was destroyed; authorities are investigating whether the act was intentional. In El Puerto de Santa María, a ground-floor apartment fire destroyed one home and damaged an upper-floor residence, resulting in the hospitalization of three individuals for smoke inhalation. The cause of the El Puerto de Santa María blaze remains unknown.
