Residential fires in Hatay, Turkey

Overview

A series of residential fires have occurred in the Hatay province of Turkey, causing significant property damage.

In the Antakya district, a fire destroyed the home of a Syrian family of earthquake survivors. Preliminary reports suggest the blaze may have originated from an electrical installation, specifically a socket. While the house was rendered unusable, no injuries were reported as the homeowner managed to rescue his son.

In the Defne district, a fire and subsequent explosions destroyed a ground-floor apartment in the Çekmece neighborhood. Witnesses reported that appliances, including a television, air conditioner, and a balcony generator, exploded during the incident. Unlike the previous fire, this event resulted in multiple injuries, including a mother and son who sustained burns, and others treated for smoke inhalation.
