Restoration of Arcul de Triumf in Chisinau

Overview

The Moldovan government has approved plans to restore the Arcul de Triumf in Chisinau. To facilitate the project, the monument and its adjacent land will be registered as public state property, with the Ministry of Culture and the Public Property Agency serving as administrators.

Administrative and technical preparations are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026, with physical restoration works expected to begin in March or April 2027. The 2026 budget includes an allocation of 5 million lei for technical documentation and feasibility studies. The 13-meter-tall Corinthian-style structure, built in 1841, requires intervention due to limestone erosion and the need for structural consolidation.
