Spanish religious heritage restorations continue

The year‑long restoration of the Santuario de la Virgen de la Peregrina in A Coruña reached a key milestone on 27 July 2026 when the protective metal scaffolding was finally taken down. The work, funded with more than €300,000 by the Xunta de Galicia and overseen by cofradía president Juan Carlos Aguilar Argenti, involved double‑level scaffolding, careful cleaning of the granite façade, mortar repair and stone restoration of the baroque geometry. A technical hand‑over is scheduled for 10 a.m. on 4 August.

In Seville, the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora de la Salud signed a contract with the Jesús Rosa embroidery workshop to restore the red “mantle of the stars” that dresses the Virgen de la Salud. Backed by the Real Maestranza de Caballería and donations, the multi‑month project will preserve the 18th‑century textile—known for its intricate gold‑threaded six‑pointed stars—though it will remain out of processional use and instead serve internal liturgical purposes.

Both projects illustrate coordinated efforts to safeguard Spain’s historic religious monuments while honoring longstanding devotional traditions.
