Overview

Rio de Janeiro is advancing environmental conservation and climate resilience through new funding and collaborative programs. The State Fund for Environmental Conservation and Urban Development (Fecam) approved R$ 592.3 million for various initiatives, with a primary focus on the environmental recovery of rivers and canals through desilting and cleaning. This initiative works across 34 municipalities to map vulnerabilities and develop climate adaptation plans to prepare for extreme weather events like floods and heatwaves.
