Overview

Riot Games announced a major update for League of Legends centered on the expansion of in-game voice chat. Currently restricted to premade groups, the feature will be extended to entire teams starting with Patch 26.20. The initial rollout is scheduled for North America and Oceania, with potential future expansions to regions such as Korea, Latin America, and Brazil.

To address concerns regarding toxicity and player behavior, Riot is implementing an Honor Level requirement. Only players who have reached Honor Level 3 or higher will be permitted to speak, while others will be restricted to listening. The update also introduces ‘Voice Skins’ to allow players to modify their vocal tonality, alongside technical improvements including enhanced noise suppression, increased stability, and faster connections.

In addition to communication changes, the developer is introducing music-themed content and updates to League of Legends Classic. The Classic mode is expected to receive improved map textures, lighting, and the addition of champions such as Poppy, Xin Zhao, Shyvana, Galio, and Fiora in Patch 26.18.
