RMDSZ political controversies and disinformation denials

Hunor Kelemen, president of the RMDSZ (UDMR), has issued several denials regarding political rumors and misinformation in Romania. Kelemen dismissed reports claiming he rejected Luca Niculescu for the position of Prime Minister, characterizing such claims as “lies,” “disinformation,” and “manipulation.” He also refuted allegations that he pressured President Nicușor Dan to appoint only party members and denied that foreign entities from Brussels, Germany, or Hungary interfered in domestic political negotiations.

Regarding the country’s political deadlock, Kelemen noted that while a majority could be formed without the RMDSZ, a stable government would be difficult to establish if it included certain factions, such as SOS, former AUR members, or political defectors. He emphasized the need for a legitimate government to manage budget projects and regional instability.

Additionally, Kelemen addressed a controversy involving Senator István-Lóránt Antal, who appeared on a passenger list for a private flight from Bucharest to Mykonos alongside a constitutional judge and former ministers. Kelemen stated the senator “made a mistake” and clarified that the flight had no official political purpose or party mandate.
