A series of road accidents involving heavy vehicles and other motorists has been reported in Barahona, Dominican Republic.

In late August, two incidents involving construction material transport occurred within 24 hours. In El Cachón, a load of blocks fell from a vehicle onto a car, causing damage but no injuries. This followed a Monday incident in El Brisal where a truck reportedly lost its brakes while descending a road, though the driver avoided pedestrians. These events led to local concerns regarding the safety of heavy vehicles on regional roads.

On Thursday, a separate collision occurred on the Sánchez highway between the Pescadería junction and La Hoya. A motorcycle collided with a truck that had stopped on the road. Preliminary reports indicate the motorcycle was traveling without lights in a low-visibility area. The accident resulted in one fatality and one injury, with the victims identified as natives of the Altagracia settlement.
