Road and utility infrastructure developments in Romania and|

Overview

Infrastructure development and maintenance efforts continue across Romania and Moldova, spanning road networks and utility systems. In Romania, modernization of the DJ 763 road in the Apuseni Mountains has reached 55% completion. This project involves significant mountain engineering, including the construction of 3,900 meters of concrete support walls, rock removal, and the installation of 37 culverts. Additionally, the Cluj County Council is maintaining the DJ 108K road to ensure safe access to tourist sites by clearing debris and cleaning drainage systems. In Timiș County, Aquatim has completed a 28 million lei water and sewage network project in Buziaș and Bacova, funded by European Union resources, which included rehabilitating an 8 km pipeline and installing new pumping stations. New bridge reconstruction projects are progressing in Suceava and Bucharest. In Suceava, a 116-year-old bridge over the Moldova River connecting Cornu Luncii and Mălini has been demolished. A new bridge exceeding 255 meters in length will be built as part of an 85 million euro modernization project funded by the European Union, which also includes the rehabilitation of 23 bridges and 53 kilometers of county roads. In Bucharest, the historic Podul Calicilor is set to be rebuilt from scratch. This project involves constructing a 32-meter-long pedestrian bridge to connect Șelari Street and Sfinții Apostoli Street, alongside landscaping 11,000 square meters along the Dâmbovița River. In Bucharest, additional urban projects are underway. The modernization of the Prelungirea Ghencea area is being executed in three sections, with tram line and roadwork completions targeted between 2027 and 2028. Meanwhile, the Magistrala II Vest heating pipeline modernization is 90% complete. This project, managed by Energetica Servicii București, will utilize a pre-insulated underground pipeline with fault-detection sensors to serve approximately 33,000 apartments in the Militari and Drumul Taberei neighborhoods and parts of Sector 1.
