Robotics industry development in China and Taiwan
Overview
Regional efforts to develop the smart robotics industry have progressed from initial policy and seminar-based initiatives toward the establishment of formal technical standards and dedicated infrastructure.
In late July 2026, Tainan hosted a seminar focused on smart logistics and agricultural automation, while Tianjin approved a three-year action plan to boost its robotics ecosystem through industry-university collaboration.
By late August, Taiwan expanded these efforts by releasing the ‘AMRA-201: 2026 General Requirements and Test Methods for Mobile Robots’ to standardize performance testing for various robot types. Additionally, the Tainan Robotics Industry Development Innovation Center was launched in the Liuying Science and Technology Industrial Park to support startups and help traditional industries adopt AI and automation. Complementary professional development programs were also introduced to train technical experts in business management.
