Romania‑Moldova youth summer camp initiatives

In July 2026 a network of summer camps was organised across Romania and Moldova to combine education, cultural activities and safety training for young people. Programs ranged from religious‑focused retreats and poetry festivals in Romania to science‑based camps and anti‑hate workshops for Romani teenagers, all partnered with local police and community groups to teach online‑fraud prevention, bullying avoidance and critical‑media skills.

A related effort centred on vulnerable children affected by regional conflict. The Moldovan Ministry of Education hosted a ten‑day camp for 240 children from Transnistria and refugee families, offering language lessons, creative workshops and intercultural dialogue in partnership with UNHCR. Simultaneously, a Romanian border‑county camp provided a safe stay for 40 children of soldiers killed or missing in the conflict. Together, these initiatives illustrate a coordinated regional focus on using summer camps to support at‑risk youth through education, recreation and cross‑border cooperation.
