Romanian administrative leadership transition
Overview
Following the formation of the Luca Niculescu government and the National Liberal Party (PNL) moving into the opposition, Romania has experienced a wave of resignations among regional administrators. Notable departures include Andrei Nistor in Bucharest, who resigned in protest over a Ministry of Internal Affairs appointment, and several officials in Timiș, Bistrița-Năsăud, Prahova, and Constanța.
In response to these vacancies, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) has begun proposing new candidates for prefect and subprefect positions. In Brașov, the PSD intends to nominate Lucian Mija to succeed Mihai Cătălin Văsii. In Constanța, the party has nominated former mayor Decebal Făgădău for prefect and Lucian Chitic for subprefect to replace outgoing officials.
