Romanian municipal parking regulation changes
Overview
Municipalities in Romania are implementing new public parking regulations and fee structures.
In Sfântu Gheorghe, the City Hall announced a reorganization of the city center into two tariff zones effective in late October. Zone A will maintain a rate of 3 lei per hour with resident-only subscriptions, while Zone B will see rates reduced to 2 lei per hour. Mandatory parking in these zones will apply on weekdays from 08:00 to 18:00, with free parking on weekends and holidays.
Brașov is proposing different measures, including significant fee increases in its historic zone. Proposed rates for Zone 0 include 5 lei per hour on weekdays and 10 lei per hour on weekends. Following public consultation, the municipality adjusted its proposal to allow one resident parking permit per household and clarified documentation requirements. The final regulation awaits approval from the Brașov Local Council.
