Rosario Chinese commercial and cultural development
Overview
In Rosario, urban revitalization efforts have focused on the development of a Chinese-themed commercial and cultural district. Initial proposals by businessman Lucio Di Santo sought to establish a Chinatown-inspired hub in the city center to address vacant storefronts and commercial decline through concentrated gastronomic and cultural services.
These plans have progressed into more concrete developments. A large-scale Chinese bazaar and gift shop is scheduled to occupy a 1,500 m² space at Mitre 738, a site previously vacant after the closure of Tarjeta Naranja. Additionally, the proposed Chinese Barrio is expanding its scope, with plans for a 200-meter corridor of commerce and gastronomy. Approximately 70 entrepreneurs have expressed interest in the project, including the restaurant Lan Lan China Bowl, which aims to serve as a gastronomic centerpiece for the district.
