In late July 2026, a market vendor in Rotterdam‑South reported the third arson attack on his delivery trucks within weeks, after losses on 5 July and an attempted arson on 22 July. The latest blaze destroyed a truck and its food cargo, prompting the vendor to warn that his business could be forced to close and to appeal for witnesses.

On 6 August, a fire on the eighth floor of a flat in the De Esch district killed a man in his 60s. Investigators heard two loud bangs before the blaze and have not ruled out any scenario, treating arson as a possible cause.

Later that day, police linked two parked cars in Kaatsheuvel to a suspected arson, and a large dune fire in Ouddorp escalated to GRIP 2, drawing about 150 responders; a firefighter was seriously injured and air‑lifted to hospital. The week also saw blazes at a recycling centre in Winterswijk and a parking‑lot fire in Uithoorn, prompting multi‑regional command structures and the deployment of German fire units. These incidents have broadened the scope of ongoing arson investigations across the Netherlands, while the Rotterdam cases remain a focal point of concern.
