Royal Enfield market performance and expansion
Overview
Royal Enfield has experienced high demand for its Himalayan motorcycle series. In India, the company suspended new bookings for the Himalayan 440 because demand exceeded projections, with six months of production already fully booked. In Brazil, the Himalayan 450 reached 12,500 total units sold following its March 2025 launch, with consistent monthly growth reported through August 2026. By October 2026, Eicher Motors, the owner of Royal Enfield, reported strong sales performance. The brand achieved its best festive season performance with combined sales of 267,400 units for September and October. Monthly sales in October reached 133,442 motorcycles, a 7% year-on-year increase. This growth was driven by a 4% increase in domestic Indian sales and a nearly 47% surge in exports. The larger motorcycle segment, specifically models above 350cc, saw an 18.11% increase compared to the previous year. Year-to-date sales from April through October 2026 reached over 8.42 lakh units, an 18% increase. During the EICMA 2026 show in Milan, celebrating its 125th anniversary, the company unveiled several new models centered around its first twin-cylinder platform, featuring a 743cc oil-cooled parallel-twin engine. Key debuts included the Himalayan 750 flagship adventure tourer, which features cruise control and advanced Showa suspension, and the Continental GT 750, described as the company’s most powerful production motorcycle to date. The Continental GT 750 will be available in an unfaired cafe racer silhouette and a faired version with a lower handlebar for an aggressive posture. It features a hybrid twin-pod TFT instrument cluster combining digital and classic analog layouts. To support growth, Royal Enfield is investing approximately R$ 36.5 million to open its own manufacturing facility in Manaus, Brazil, with operations expected to commence by May 2027. This facility aims for a production capacity of up to 32,000 motorcycles per year.
