Runway Media Router launch

Runway announced the Runway Media Router on its Runway Dev platform, describing it as the first tool that automatically routes generative‑media requests to the most suitable image, video or audio model based on developer‑specified preferences for quality, speed or cost. The service offers API access to an expanding list of third‑party and in‑house models and aims to simplify developers’ workflows as the generative‑media ecosystem grows. Lead product officers highlighted the need for seamless model switching, noting interest in Chinese models and potential U.S. policy influences. Customers such as Adobe, Cloudflare, ElevenLabs, Expedia, Shutterstock and Quora are slated to integrate the router into their products.

A few days later Runway’s announcement was reiterated in a broader report on AI platform developments, emphasizing the router’s role in reducing manual model selection, scaling costs and latency. The same coverage also introduced Australian firm Runnit’s AI‑native operations platform for marketing teams, but the core thread remains Runway’s rollout of the Media Router as a new standard for generative‑media model selection.
