Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilians
Entities: Volodymyr Zelenskyy · Russia · Ukraine · Sevsk · Kharkiv
Overview
In mid‑July 2026 Russian forces escalated their strike campaign against Ukraine. On 12 July, drones set fire to a refinery in Syzran and, earlier that month, fire‑bombed wheat fields in Kherson, destroying about 2,000 hectares during the harvest. The same wave of attacks killed at least 265 Ukrainian civilians and injured more than 1,800.
Two weeks later, on 26 July, Russian airstrikes hit multiple Ukrainian cities. The offensive coincided with the reported capture of Sevsk and advances on five of six frontlines. Civilian deaths rose across Kharkiv, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kherson and other regions, with dozens killed and many children injured. The strikes also targeted logistical hubs, fuel and energy infrastructure, and other military assets.
