Ryan Lasko spinal injury and recovery

Overview

Ryan Lasko, a 24-year-old Oakland Athletics minor league prospect, suffered tetraplegia following an on-field collision with teammate Devin Taylor during a Double-A game in Frisco, Texas, on June 30. The collision caused fractures to his C6 and C7 cervical vertebrae, necessitating emergency surgery for spinal decompression and stabilization.

Lasko initially underwent inpatient rehabilitation at the Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation to master functional tasks and regain independence. During his recovery, he reported regaining some sensitivity and tingling sensations in his legs and feet. He has since been discharged from the institute to continue his rehabilitation at home.
