Saint Anne festivals across Europe

In July 2026 a wave of Saint Anne celebrations unfolded across southern and central Europe. In Italy, the coastal towns of Monopoli and Chioggia organized multi‑day festivals that blended daily Masses, concerts, traditional music, dance performances, fireworks and prize draws, aiming to merge devotion with local entertainment for residents and visitors. Monopoli’s three‑day event (24‑26 July) featured a tribute concert to Cesare Cremonini, Apulian music, a fireworks display by Maxima Fireworks and a final one‑woman show with prize draws. Chioggia’s five‑day Sagra (23‑27 July) added a gastronomic market, live orchestral dances, a Luna Park, charitable fishing tournaments, and a lottery awarding a Renault Clio, a Piaggio Vespa and an iPhone 17 Pro, capped by a laser show.

On the Drava River border between Legrad, Croatia and Őrtilos, Hungary, a two‑day “Dani svete Ane” event featured boat rides, a Mass, football matches, folk‑dance displays and extensive food stalls, highlighting cross‑border cooperation. In the nearby Croatian parish of Osekovo, a separate programme included a morning Mass, an art exhibition, and sporting activities such as football, badminton and inflatable play areas.

Croatian Catholic communities also marked the feast abroad: in Nagold, Germany, about 600 worshippers attended a solemn Mass led by Fr. Željko Baković, accompanied by choirs and a charity drive for a 16‑year‑old girl in Croatia. In Dubravac, Croatia, roughly 400 parishioners gathered for the traditional “Anino” celebration, featuring a 28‑metre jeger sausage, homemade bread, a children’s balloon and live music, with proceeds earmarked for chapel improvements. Together, these events illustrate how diverse European communities observe Saint Anne through religious rites, cultural showcases and charitable initiatives, reinforcing local identity, diaspora solidarity and regional ties.
