Overview
A food poisoning outbreak linked to a private event in Florești, Moldova, has seen a rising number of casualties. Initially, 32 people were reported affected, with laboratory tests confirming Salmonella Enteritidis in six individuals. This incident occurred during a period of increased acute diarrheal diseases across the country.
By October 4, the number of affected individuals rose to 63, including 19 children. Laboratory tests confirmed Salmonella Enteritidis in eight patients. At least 14 people required hospitalization at various facilities, including the Florești District Hospital and several clinical hospitals in Bălți and Chișinău. The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) is conducting an epidemiological investigation to determine the circumstances of the group illness.
