Samsung Electro-Mechanics AI server component contracts
Overview
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has secured a major long-term supply contract valued at approximately 1.0722 trillion KRW (about $780 million) to provide Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC) for AI servers to a major global corporation. The agreement is set to run from January 1, 2027, to December 31, 2027.
This deal marks the company’s largest MLCC supply contract to date. AI servers require specialized MLCCs to manage high-amplitude current transients and provide noise suppression for GPUs and AI accelerators, often requiring more than ten times the number of capacitors used in general-purpose servers. These components must operate continuously in high-temperature and high-voltage environments, and the company noted that the number of manufacturers capable of producing such high-specification components is limited.
Since May 2026, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has announced total long-term contracts for AI-server MLCCs and silicon capacitors valued at approximately 3.32 trillion KRW. The company has now entered into long-term supply agreements with more than ten international companies, signaling a strategic shift toward high-value-added products for the expanding AI data center market.
