Samsung Galaxy messaging and software issues

Samsung Galaxy users have encountered several software-related challenges involving messaging applications and interface stability. Initial reports highlighted confusion regarding the status of the Samsung Messages app; while it is no longer pre-installed on newer models like the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung clarified it remains available via the Galaxy Store and receives updates for RCS compatibility.

Users transitioning to Google Messages reported losing specific organizational features, such as custom chat categories. Additionally, a home screen bug was identified that caused application folders to shift outside visible screen boundaries.

Following these transitions, new technical issues emerged regarding Rich Communication Services (RCS) functionality within Google Messages. Some users reported receiving an “error 3100” message, described by Google as “Trouble connecting. Awaiting retry.” This issue appears linked to device upgrades or carrier changes, with some reports suggesting that Samsung’s Smart Switch tool may transfer corrupted cache files during migration. While Google has provided troubleshooting steps, some users have found success only by performing fresh device setups without using Smart Switch.
