San Lorenzo coaching changes

Argentine football club San Lorenzo has undergone leadership changes following the departure of manager Néstor Gorosito. Gorosito left the club after eight matches, during which the team earned seven points in seven Torneo Clausura matches and suffered a Copa Argentina elimination by Deportivo Riestra.

Rubén Darío Insúa has been appointed as the new head coach for his third tenure at the club. After resolving negotiations regarding economic matters and technical staff claims, Insúa signed a contract extending until December 2027. His immediate objectives include evaluating the squad and improving the team’s position in Zona A of the Torneo Clausura.

Insúa, who previously led the club to a Copa Sudamericana title in 2002, arrived in Buenos Aires to finalize his appointment with club leadership, including Marcelo Culotta. His return follows a period of significant institutional instability, characterized by seven different presidents and five coaches within a 29-month span. His new coaching staff includes assistants Fabián García, Carlos Orsi, and Roberto Oste. Insúa is scheduled to make his debut on Sunday, September 13, in an away match against Independiente, with the long-term goal of guiding the team back into playoff contention and securing a position in the upcoming Copa Sudamericana.
