Sanpellegrino Group sustainability initiatives

Overview

Sanpellegrino Group has implemented a sustainability strategy focused on protecting natural resources and ecosystems in its operational territories. Through its ‘Fonte’ program—an acronym for Future, origin, nature, territory, and ecosystems—the company has invested 30 million euros over a five-year period to enhance biodiversity and build resilience against climate change.

As part of these efforts, the Acqua Panna brand and the Municipality of Barberino di Mugello completed an ecological and hydrological redevelopment project at the Gabbianello Oasis on the shores of Lake Bilancino in Mugello, Italy. Supported by an investment exceeding 2 million euros, the initiative expanded the wetland area by 28% through reforestation and improved water catchment systems from the Tavaiano stream.

The completed works include the creation of new habitats for amphibians and migratory birds. To promote accessibility, a new educational path was inaugurated, featuring tactile content and panels designed to make the oasis accessible to blind and visually impaired visitors. The project’s completion was marked by a presentation attended by regional and local officials, including the President of the Tuscany Region, Eugenio Giani.
