Santa Cruz housing diagnostic program implementation

Overview

The Santa Cruz provincial government’s housing diagnostic program, ‘Construir Santa Cruz’, has reached 900 registrations. Launched by Governor Claudio Vidal, the initiative seeks to create an updated assessment of housing needs across the province through the Urban and Housing Development Institute (IDUV). Marcelo De La Torre, president of IDUV, reported that registration numbers are higher in Río Gallegos than in the interior, with notable participation in Cañadón Seco. The government intends to perform a statistical analysis of these requirements by late August or early September to guide future housing policies.

Despite the program’s progress, it has encountered criticism regarding the transparency of housing allocation. Concerns have been raised that the scoring system established by IDUV may be bypassed, leading to allegations that individuals with lower scores or those not officially registered have been included in housing delivery processes.
