Satellogic Merlin satellite constellation deployment

Overview

Satellogic began the deployment of its Merlin constellation, an AI-driven Earth-observation satellite network designed for infrastructure monitoring, maritime traffic detection, and pattern-of-life analysis. The project utilizes onboard AI to provide rapid alerts and high-resolution imaging for defense and civil customers.

In early October 2026, the first Merlin satellite was successfully launched via a SpaceX Falcon 9 from Vandenberg Space Force Base. This initial deployment included three NewSat spacecraft, which have since established contact with ground stations and are reporting healthy subsystem status.
