Overview
The Savan 1 wind farm, a cross‑border renewable project built by T&T Group on the Laos‑Vietnam border, began commercial operation at the end of 2025. Within seven months, the first 300 MW phase generated about 0.9 billion kWh annually and recorded roughly $36.5 million in revenue, marking the start of its cash‑flow period. The project includes a dedicated 220 kV transmission line linking Savannakhet, Laos, to the Vietnamese grid.
Construction was completed in about 16 months under challenging “3 no” conditions, involving extensive road building and an 80‑metre bridge. Phase 2, slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027, will raise total capacity to 495 MW and annual generation to about 1.4 billion kWh. Over the 25‑year concession, Savan 1 is projected to produce roughly 35 billion kWh—equivalent to 40 days of Vietnam’s 2025 electricity consumption—and to generate about $2.43 billion in revenue, with annual earnings expected to rise from $62.5 million in phase 1 to $97.3 million once fully operational.
