Sber expansion in India
Overview
Sber is expanding its physical and economic presence in India to support growing bilateral trade. During the Eastern Economic Forum 2026, Sber announced the acquisition of two Summit Towers business centers in New Delhi, intended to serve as an infrastructural foundation for Russian business cooperation. This expansion coincides with a shift in Russian imports from India, moving from pharmaceuticals and food toward high-tech and industrial sectors such as machinery, electronics, and automotive components.
Sber reported that trade involving small and medium-sized enterprises has expanded rapidly, with 2026 payment turnover for these entities exceeding 2025 totals by nearly 11 times. Additionally, bilateral payment efficiency has improved, with over 90% of payments from Russia to India processed in under 10 minutes.
In a related development, NBCC (India) Limited officially handed over the allotment letter and agreement to sale for two towers at Bharat Business Park in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi, to SBER India. The transaction involves approximately 5.17 lakh sq ft of space with a sale value exceeding ₹2,000 crore. SBER India plans to use this facility to establish a Russian Business Centre to provide banking, legal, tax, and audit services to Russian companies operating in India.
