Schoenstatt movement anniversary celebrations
Overview
The Schoenstatt religious movement has held several major anniversary celebrations across South America and the United States.
In late August, the Instituto Secular das Irmãs de Maria de Schoenstatt celebrated its centenary in Santa Maria, Brazil, with a Mass led by Archbishop Dom Leomar Antonio Brustolin. Concurrently, in Mendoza, Argentina, the Schoenstatt Sanctuary hosted a coronation ceremony for Mary to promote spiritual renewal and unity.
By mid-September, celebrations expanded to Paraguay and the United States. In Tupãrenda, Paraguay, approximately 400 people gathered for a centennial commemoration of the founding of the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. In Minnesota, the Schoenstatt Family prepared to mark the 50th anniversary of the Jubilee Family Shrine at Schoenstatt on the Lake in Sleepy Eye, scheduled for September 18-20, 2026.
Additionally, the movement celebrated 76 years of the Pilgrim Mother Campaign, an apostolate initiated by João Luiz Pozzobon. In late September, the campaign’s activities in Brazil included a solidarity action in Suzano, São Paulo, where youth organized under the theme ‘Missionary Heart’ to collect donations for underprivileged families and the elderly. In Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, more than 700 pilgrims, including travelers from Uruguay, participated in the ‘Romaria da Primavera’ (Spring Pilgrimage) at the Schoenstatt Tabor Sanctuary to honor the movement’s legacy.
In Brazil, the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother Campaign has also announced a Youth and Children’s Congress for October 10, 2026, in Atibaia, São Paulo.
