School sports infrastructure development in Balkans
Overview
In late September 2026, Montenegro and the Sarajevo Canton in Bosnia and Herzegovina launched initiatives to improve school sports infrastructure. In Montenegro, the “Nek’ se čuje lopta” program completed upgrades to sports courts at an elementary school in Nikšić, providing new surfaces and various equipment including basketball and volleyball sets. Simultaneously, the Sarajevo Canton began the “Teqball in Schools” project, distributing Teqball tables to schools, colleges, and dormitories to promote physical activity.
By mid-October 2026, the focus on Teqball expanded significantly in Montenegro. Through the ‘Teqball in Schools’ project, the Teqball Association donated 50 tables valued at 125,000 euros to all secondary schools across the country. This initiative, involving the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), included promotional classes in Tivat and Cetinje to teach students the rules of the sport.
