SDSM allegations against North Macedonian government

The Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) has leveled several allegations against the government led by Hristijan Mickoski, focusing on potential corruption and lack of transparency.

In August, the SDSM called for a Public Prosecutor investigation following an explosive device incident in Bardovci. The party alleged the attack might be linked to business interests or tenders involving approximately 300,000 euros, targeting an associate of the Prime Minister. The ruling VMRO-DPMNE party dismissed these claims as a “colorful story” without evidence, stating the incident had been reported in official bulletins.

By September, the opposition shifted its focus to public spending related to the 35th anniversary of independence celebrations. SDSM officials demanded an investigation into the use of approximately 5.5 million euros, questioning the procurement process for a David Guetta performance. The party requested the release of all contracts and invoices, specifically questioning whether deals were finalized before public tenders concluded.
