Search and rescue operation in Costinești

Overview

A search and rescue operation was conducted in the Black Sea near Costinești, Romania, following the disappearance of a 52-year-old man on September 1. The individual, who was traveling with family and friends, went missing near the Albert Terrace area close to safety buoys.

After a search lasting nearly 24 hours involving 15 divers from ISU Dobrogea, lifeguards, a boat, and a SMURD helicopter, authorities recovered the man on September 2. Initial search efforts were reportedly hindered by low underwater visibility of less than two meters. Official reports regarding the man’s medical condition have not yet been released.
