To survive, she sought shelter under fir trees and in rock crevices, sustaining herself on stream water and wild blueberries.

Rescuers located her on a slope between Passo di Tesina and Bagni di Vinadio. Although conscious, she was suffering from hypothermia. She was stabilized on-site by the Azienda Zero Piemonte regional emergency medical service and airlifted to a hospital in Cuneo in stable condition.
