Security and misconduct incidents in Rome high schools

In October 2026, two separate high schools in Rome reported significant security and disciplinary incidents.

At the Edoardo Amaldi high school in the Tor Bella Monaca district, police implemented security measures, including metal detector checks, following anonymous threats of a shooting posted to an Instagram page. The threats claimed ‘89 people will die.’ Authorities neutralized the risk and continued the school day, though investigators worked to identify the anonymous sender via the Ngl messaging service.

Separately, at the Righi scientific high school, a ‘rape list’ containing the names of current and former students was discovered around October 16–19. A swastika was also found drawn in the school bathrooms at the via Boncompagni branch. School principal Giovanni Cogliandro described the incident as an ‘abominable action’ and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to addressing ‘patriarchal residues’ within the school environment.

Student groups, including the Delta list and the Ludus collective, issued statements condemning the incidents. The Delta list clarified that the graffiti appeared during an event they had organized, emphasizing their repudiation of the gesture and its underlying ideology. The Ludus collective noted that while the physical writing can be erased, the culture that generates such violence must be dismantled.
