Security incidents at Preparatoria Lázaro Cárdenas

Overview

The director of Preparatoria Federal Lázaro Cárdenas, Mario Ricardo Zumaya Parra, has denied claims of a security crisis at the institution. This follows a series of incidents including the expulsion of a student for threats on October 1 and an anonymous threatening phone call to administrative staff on October 8.

The October 8 incident prompted a security intervention involving municipal police, state security forces, and the prosecutor’s office. On that same day, a female student fell from the second floor of the school and required emergency medical attention. In response to these events, authorities conducted random inspections of student belongings using canine units to check for weapons or dangerous objects.
