Security incidents in Jammu and Kashmir

Overview

Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have increased vigilance following incidents involving explosives and aerial incursions near the Line of Control (LoC).

On August 28, authorities in the Baramulla district recovered two hand grenades from an individual during a security check in the Kunzer area. Simultaneously, in the Rajouri sector, the Indian Army intercepted three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that entered Indian airspace near the Behrooti sector. Military personnel utilized counter-drone systems to force the drones to retreat across the border.

Following the sighting of a suspected Pakistani drone hovering over the Behruiti area on the night of August 28, security agencies launched extensive search operations to check for dropped weapons, ammunition, or narcotics. In response to these developments, combined operations involving the army, police, and paramilitary forces have been intensified across the forests of Udhampur, Kathua, and Rajouri, with tightened security measures along the LoC to prevent infiltration.
