Security operations and instability in Kaduna State

Overview

Security operations in Kaduna State have focused on combating terrorism and banditry through military and police interventions. In early September, the Joint Task Force North West arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and syndicate members in Kubau Local Government Area. During similar operations, troops intercepted ammunition in Igabi, arrested a logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari, and foiled an attack in Unguwan Gardago Village, which resulted in one civilian death.

By late September, the security situation influenced state governance, leading Governor Uba Sani to suspend the state’s 66th Independence Day celebrations. Meanwhile, residents expressed support for a national security recruitment drive aimed at increasing military and police personnel, establishing new barracks, and deploying forest guards to combat banditry.
