Overview

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has undertaken several visits to engage with religious and local communities.

In mid-August, the President scheduled a visit to Tivaouane for a traditional presidential ziarra ahead of the Mawlid (Gamou) celebrations. During this visit, he was expected to be received by the General Caliph of the Tidiane brotherhood, Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour, as part of an established tradition to pay respects to the family of Seydi El Hadj Malick Sy.

Following this, the President visited his native village of Ndiandiaye in the Ndiaganiao commune. The visit served to attend a memorial ceremony for Demba Sène, a local teacher and political figure, and to express solidarity with families following the recent death of Diegane Faye, the former president of the Ndiaganiao rural council.
