Serbia-France diplomatic and economic relations

Overview

Diplomatic engagement between Serbia and France has focused on economic cooperation and regional political stability. Initially, discussions centered on expanding investment in infrastructure, economy, and applied sciences, with the French Development Agency (AFD) exploring new development projects. Officials noted that 80 percent of all French investments in the Western Balkans are currently located in Serbia.

Subsequent high-level meetings expanded to address European Union integration and regional security. Serbian officials sought French support for the opening of EU Cluster 3, while also raising concerns regarding the safety of Serbs in Kosovo, the protection of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and the status of the Community of Serb Municipalities. These discussions occurred during a period of increased bilateral activity, including a visit by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to Paris.
