Serbian automotive export growth

Overview

Serbian automotive exports reached approximately 2.8 billion euros in the first half of 2026, representing a 51.1 percent increase compared to the previous year. Data from the Republic Statistical Office indicates that the automotive industry has become the country’s most valuable export sector.

Growth has been primarily driven by the Stellantis plant in Kragujevac, specifically through the production of the Fiat Grande Panda. Reports suggest production volume at the Kragujevac facility has more than doubled since the start of 2026. The competitive pricing of these vehicles allows them to compete against Chinese imports and other European manufacturing hubs.

The surge in production has significantly impacted Serbia’s trade balance, contributing to a trade surplus with Italy, which is a major destination for the vehicles. The automotive sector, when combined with auto parts, now accounts for approximately 25 percent of Serbia’s total exports.
