Overview
The start of the 2026/27 Basketball League of Serbia (KLS) season has been jeopardized by organizational and legal disputes. Initially, the league faced uncertainty after a voting process failed to secure the required two-thirds majority to adopt essential documents, including the competition calendar, regulations, disciplinary rules, and the financial plan.
Following the failed vote, the situation escalated when Srećko Otović, president of the Association of KLS Clubs, canceled an Assembly session scheduled for August 13, 2026. Otović cited a temporary court injunction issued by the First Basic Court in Belgrade, alleging that four clubs—FMP, Dinamik, Spartak, and Zlatibor—obtained the measure through “improper means.”
The injunction prevents the Assembly from making decisions necessary for league operations. This impasse has delayed the season and hindered clubs from finalizing budgets and rosters. The KLS has stated it will pursue legal remedies to protect the interests of the Association.
