Serbian educational scholarship programs

Overview

In Serbia, educational funding initiatives have expanded from general academic support to specialized vocational programs.

Initially, the Ministry of Education opened applications for student scholarships and loans based on academic merit and household financial status. These monthly scholarships were set at 8,100 dinars, supplemented by state support for student dormitory costs. During this period, the Alek Kavčić Foundation also initiated public voting for the ‘Prosvetitelj’ People's Award to honor teachers.

Subsequently, new scholarship programs were launched to address labor needs in critical sectors. The Ministry of Defence and the Military Medical Directorate introduced 40 scholarships for medical students in nursing and technical roles, offering monthly stipends between 25,000 and 35,000 dinars and guaranteed employment. Additionally, the railway company Srbijavoz established a program for secondary railway school students in technical roles, providing financial support, internships, and post-graduation employment commitments.
