Serbian political and diplomatic disputes

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko đurić has been involved in several political disputes regarding the country's international standing and diplomatic administration.

In late August, đurić addressed the National Assembly to defend Serbia's international image against the ‘General Staff’ affair. He characterized the incident as a fabrication that caused political and economic damage, claiming that international media outlets portrayed the entire nation negatively. He further accused opposition members of attempting to criminalize the government during a period of efforts to strengthen ties with the United States.

By early September, the focus shifted to allegations regarding a diplomatic reshuffle. Borko Stefanović, Deputy President of the Freedom and Justice Party, claimed that high-ranking diplomats were moving to well-paid positions abroad and alleged that đurić was preparing to become the Serbian Ambassador to the United Nations in New York. đurić declined to comment on specific personnel changes, calling them “strictly confidential” and dismissing the allegations as “idle dreams.”
