Serie A and Serie C disciplinary sanctions
Overview
Disciplinary sanctions have continued across the Italian football leagues. Following the fifth matchday of the Serie C championship, the Lega Pro disciplinary judge issued several rulings for Group C.
Giugliano striker Ibe Chinaecherem received a three-match suspension for striking an opponent in the neck with an elbow, which will cause him to miss the match against Salernitana. Other one-match suspensions were issued to Edoardo Masciangelo of Catania, Filippo Groppelli of Crotone, and Theophilus Awua of Cavese. Additionally, Cosenza coach Danilo Polito was handed a two-match ban for making disrespectful comments toward the officiating crew during an FVS check.
Financial penalties were also applied to clubs for supporter misconduct. Barletta was fined €1,200 for the use of smoke bombs and objects thrown toward officials, while Casertana received a €400 fine for a fan throwing a water bottle onto the pitch. Crotone was also fined €200 due to offensive chanting directed at law enforcement.
More recent rulings involve Salernitana and Torres. The Federal Prosecutor has been requested to investigate the conduct of Salernitana coach Serse Cosmi regarding his behavior toward the end of the first half during a match against Bari, specifically concerning his conduct toward player Karlo Butic. Salernitana was fined €1,500 for security violations after supporters in the Curva Sud and Tribuna Azzurra threw plastic bottles, lighters, and partially filled glasses onto the pitch.
Following a match between Campobasso and Torres, Torres was fined €400 for security violations and damage to stadium facilities caused by supporters. Separately, Campobasso owner Matt Rizzetta denied rumors of a club sale, asserting that the club is not on the market despite potential interest from investors.
