SES O3b mPOWER satellite constellation completion

Overview

On September 13, 2026, SpaceX successfully launched the final three satellites of the O3b mPOWER constellation for Luxembourg-based SES. The mission, designated O3b mPOWER-F, utilized a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, completing the 13-satellite fleet designed for high-performance, low-latency broadband connectivity in medium Earth orbit (MEO).

The Boeing-manufactured satellites, built on the 702X platform, are intended to serve enterprise-grade sectors including maritime, aviation, government, and telecommunications. Unlike SpaceX’s Starlink service, which targets direct-to-consumer users in low Earth orbit, the O3b mPOWER network is positioned as a dedicated solution for large-scale commercial and sovereign needs through dynamically allocatable high-capacity bandwidth.

The launch also marked the 700th flight of the Falcon rocket family. The mission’s first-stage booster, B1080, completed its 29th mission by landing on the droneship ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’ in the Atlantic Ocean. The full constellation is expected to be fully operational by mid-2027.
