Forecasts indicated risks of damaging winds reaching 100–110 km/h, large hail, and the potential formation of funnel clouds, particularly in southern Alberta regions such as Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, and Lethbridge. A subsequent significant temperature drop was expected, with conditions potentially falling 9–12°C below seasonal norms and bringing snowfall to higher elevations.

On August 10, specific risks were identified for southern Alberta, including Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, and Lethbridge, where hail as large as golf balls and wind gusts up to 90 km/h were possible. Areas northwest of Edmonton, such as Grande Prairie, faced minor risks of smaller hail and heavy rain. By August 17, severe thunderstorm watches were issued again for Calgary, Lethbridge, and Medicine Hat, with continued threats of large hail, strong winds, and heavy rainfall capable of causing localized flooding.
