Sexual assaults near Yonsei University

Overview

Police in Seoul are investigating a series of sexual assaults and indecent exposures involving a masked, naked individual near Yonsei University’s Sinchon campus and the Ansan Mountain walking trails. The first reported incidents occurred on June 12 and July 21.

A third incident was reported on August 19 near university dormitories, where a student was molested. In response, Yonsei University implemented security measures, including increased patrols, brighter street lighting, and the temporary closure of certain campus entrances.

By late October, authorities were still searching for the unidentified masked suspect. During the investigation, police arrested a separate man in his 40s for trespassing in a women’s restroom in Hongje-dong, though investigators continue to analyze CCTV and DNA evidence to determine if the masked intruder is responsible for the ongoing series of assaults.
