Sexual misconduct allegations in Greek islands

Authorities in Greece are investigating separate allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors and young adults on the islands of Skiathos and Mykonos.

In Skiathos, police are investigating claims of continuous sexual abuse, physical violence, and extortion. A 15-year-old boy alleged that a 17-year-old student used recorded video material to blackmail him. The 17-year-old and his father were questioned, with the father facing charges for neglect of supervision. The suspect has denied the accusations, claiming the relationship was consensual.

In Mykonos, a 23-year-old Kosovar national was arrested following an allegation of sexual assault by an 18-year-old Italian tourist. The victim reported that the incident occurred at a beach bar on the evening of August 17 while she was in a state of heavy intoxication and unable to resist. She noted having memory gaps regarding the specific details of the encounter.

The suspect was apprehended at his residence and taken before the prosecutor in Syros. While the initial complaint was filed as rape, defense attorney Konstantinos Dokimakis stated that the legal assessment has shifted, and the prosecution is now focused on indecent assault. The defense maintains there was sexual interest rather than assault, citing witness statements and camera footage to contest the allegations.
