Shah Rukh Khan 61st birthday and King film promotions

Overview

Ahead of actor Shah Rukh Khan’s 61st birthday on November 2, 2026, Mumbai landmarks were illuminated in his honor. The Bandra Worli Sea Link was lit with messages designating him as the city’s “KING,” while his residence, Mannat, featured giant projections to celebrate his birthday and promote his upcoming film, King.

On his birthday, Khan greeted thousands of fans gathered outside Mannat. While previous celebrations saw him using an LED screen due to renovations, he returned to his annual tradition of appearing on his balcony to perform his signature open-arms pose. He was also spotted at a private celebration at the Taj Hotel, where he acknowledged supporters by waving and blowing kisses.

To mark the occasion, the makers of the action thriller, King, released the film’s first song, “Tu Mil Jaaye”. The track features a reunion between Khan and actress Deepika Padukone, with musical contributions from Arijit Singh, Madhubanti Bagchi, and Ed Sheeran. Trade reports indicate the film has secured approximately ₹665 crore in pre-release deals, including international theatrical rights and digital rights with Netflix.

Industry colleagues shared various tributes. Actor Abhay Verma described filming with Khan as a “historic moment,” while filmmaker Atlee described him as a mentor and guide. Actress Divya Dutta recalled his professional guidance during their time filming Veer Zaara. Additionally, Salman Khan and Kajol offered birthday wishes, while Kareena Kapoor hinted at a potential dance collaboration with Khan in the upcoming King project via social media. Salman Khan’s message also prompted a playful response from Khan regarding his physical fitness for the film.
